There are some places in the world that simply shouldn’t exist because people’s basic human rights are neglected. On the surface one such place exists in the heart of Santiago, Dominican Republic. The slum is named ‘The Hole’ and it is where hundreds of families call home. ‘The Hole’ is Santiago’s city trash dump where you will find homes slowly decending down into the pit where a small, polluted stream provides water to the community. Here a young girl walks across the makeshift bridge, over the polluted river while a very large swine rummages through trash along the waters edge.
